कालिकायै विद्महे श्मशानवासिन्यै धीमहि

तन्नो घोरा प्रचोदयात्।

This site is put up by a Kali Bhakta for the benefit of the Bhaktas visiting Kalighat temple.

This is not a commercial site. We do not offer on line pujas or collect money in any manner.

This site will give the history, legend, location and other information about the Kalighat Kali temple. A photo gallery is also included.

Kalighat is located in the city of Calcutta on the banks of the river Hooghly (Bhagirathi). The name Calcutta is said to have been derived from the word Kalighat. The river over a period of time has moved away from the temple. The temple is now on the banks of a small canal called Adi Ganga which connects to the Hooghly.

The views expressed in this site are that of a Bhakta who spends at least one hour every day in the temple. The comments and opinions of the Devotees of MAA KALI are welcome. Please give your experiences about MAA and her kindness. This could very well be the start of a Sathsang.

Photo Gallery

The Photo gallery has been totally revamped. It has now photographs of Smasana Kali Puja at Keoratala (Kalighat) Burning Ghat, Krishna Kali at Keoratala (Kalighat) Burning Ghat, Cuttack Chandi in different rupas and Kali Puja in Kalighat. Please view the Gallery.

Please read the page PRECAUTIONS. This contains suggestions to make your visit to the temple a worthwhile and pleasant experience.

I have started a Blog. It is about Kali Upasana/Sadhana, Gurus, Mantras, Siddhis and Sakthism in general.
